Matthew's 6 Month Appointment

Today was busy. Adam is sick (the cold I had last week is now Adam's cold), we had to miss playgroup, and Matthew had his 6 months appointment, today. I can't wait for spring!!!

Anyway... here's how Matthew is growing (or not really growing in his case):

- 25 1/4 inches (only 10th %tile... my poor short baby!)
- 16 lbs 9 oz. (25th %tile)
- I don't remember his head circumference, but I remember it was 50th %tile

He also sat up for awhile, for the doctor; he showed her how he likes to crawl backwards, and he hopped on his hands and knees (which was CRAZY because I have never seen him hop before). He also flirted and batted his big ol' eyes at her, it was cute.

They also are putting him on the hypoallergenic formula, for his excema. Adam was on this formula, too, and all I remember about it is that it smells terrible and costs a fortune! GAH! Oh well, whatever needs to be done to help my bubba feel better! :)

Anyway- he's healthy and happy :) And I CANNOT BELIEVE HE IS 6 MONTHS OLD! ahh!

He seems like he has such a little personality.

I'm sick and so is Vance... must be going around. OY! That's why we missed Calico yesterday. I meant to email you. You didn't go did you?

and have you considered that his excema may be caused from allergies? I could refer you to an AWESOME dr. if you're interested.

What a little cutie you have there!

Having colds is the worst especially in the little ones - I hope he feels better soon.

My daughter had to have special formula too, and man was it ever expensive. I was so grateful we qualified for WIC back then, because I didn't have an extra $250 a month!

What an adorable pic of your little guy! My Lauren had eczema, too. We had to have allergy testing on her at 6 mos! I had to change my eating habits because I was nursing and had to put Lauren on allergy meds for about a year. Lucky for us, she grew out of it, mostly.

Ugh...Noah was on Neocate (an amino acid based formula- you get it through the Pharmacy) for a long time. It costs about $50 for a 'small' can. He had very severe allergies. So severe he wasn't growing at all and was even hospitalized for a month. Luckily we got WIC to help out with the cost of the formula. I hated having to get WIC but we really had no other choice. It still was costing us about $250 a month! That's what WIC didn't cover. It would've been about $500 a month if we didn't have help! Yuck, I hate allergies! Noah also had very, very, very bad eczema- it was head to toe. The eczema on his head was oozing. Mainly because the nurses in the hospital thought it was cradle c(r)ap and would rub the crusty stuff off every morning. It would then ooze and pus. It was horrible. They eventually rubbed all his hair off. =( His eczema started clearing up immediately after they switched him to the new formula. I had been telling them for a week he needed a different formula but they didn't listen. Eventually they gave in and started him on the better formula. He was a changed baby almost overnight! It was awesome to see. He started gaining weight about five days later and hasn't stopped since. Even though he still is somewhat on the small side- all my babies are though. Good luck with the formula change- hope he gets better!

Firstly, he is just SO cute! Look at that little grin, he's developing such a personality!
Nadia started out tiny like that, and I have to admit I kinda liked it! It's so cute to see such an ittybitty baby crawling around - not to mention, much easier on the back. She's HEAVY now.
Bummer about the formula...but all very worth it to keep out Matthew healthy and happy!
