3 weeks with 2 kids

I can't say I am not having fun, because I would be lying. I am having a blast having a little one again. I missed the cuddling, the newness, and learning the various coos of my beautiful child.

Adam is doing a lot better. He's not going crazy anymore and he's finally getting used to his little brother. He now wants to help with everything! While this is good, it's also bad because he wants to pick Matthew up and carry him around. Luckily I've never allowed that to succeed. He did try to play ball with him once...and well, you can guess what happened there. haha.

Matthew is a wonderful child. He sleeps well, eats well, and is starting to "wake up." We had to make a trip to the doctor yesterday, because Matthew and I have thrush (a yeast infection in his mouth...and well... on me...where I feed him from...eww!). We are both being treated, but it's a very painful process. I'm just praying for Matthew that he is in as little pain as possible. BUT, on a happy note... he weighs 7 lbs. 8 oz!!! YAY! Which means, he is getting plenty of milk and is growing well.

Anyway- here are a few pics of my little man :) Enjoy!

Best Shot Monday

So, Tracey is out of town and hasn't posted the BSM yet... So, I am going to post mine now and then I will add a link to hers later! :)

This weekend was Andy and I's 6th anniversary (yay!!) and it was also Andy's best friend's wedding. We had a blast at the wedding and it was an awesome anniversary.

So, here are my shots from the weekend. There are a couple :) Enjoy!

Adam Showing off, as usual! :)

Matthew sleeping...as usual.... haha.

Andy not wanting his picture taken...as usual (hmm a trend?)

Low carb cooking

It was brought to my attention that there hasn't been a recipe up in awhile. Well, I have been cooking a lot lately (believe it or not) because Andy is on a low carb diet. Apparently he didn't lose his baby weight quickly, like I did.... poor guy. Anyway- so I've had the opportunity, on the weekends, to play chef and come up with low carb recipes.

Today I came up with a real winner! :) Low carb crepes with cream cheese and fresh berries- and let me tell you, the recipe is yum-o! They are slightly thicker than normal crepes, so don't be surprised by that. The flavor is amazing, however, and identical to normal crepes.

Low Carb Crepes (basic recipe)
4-6 servings of one crepe per serving

Ingredients

1 cup oat flour (grinding whole oats in the food processor works quite well or you can purchase oat flour at most stores)

2 tsp Splenda

dash of salt

1 cup milk

1 tbl egg substitute or one egg white (slightly beaten)

1 egg (slightly beaten)

1/2 tsp vanilla

Directions

  1. Combine oat flour, splenda and salt in a bowl. Make a well in the center of the flour and add the milk, eggs, and vanilla. Beat well to combine.
  2. Heat a lightly oiled griddle or frying pan over medium high heat. Pour the batter onto the griddle, using approximately 1/4 cup for each crepe. Tilt the pan with a circular motion so that the batter coats the surface evenly.
  3. Cook the crepe for about 2 minutes, until the bottom is light brown (make sure the crepe is solidified on the bottom or the crepe will fall apart upon flipping!!). Loosen with a spatula, turn and cook the other side.

Filling options

Cream cheese (flavored works well!)
Peanut butter
Nutella
fruit

meats, cheeses, spinach, etc. for a savory taste

Not FAIR: Thursdays Theme

Ok, so I don't really have any fair or carnival photos, because we have yet to go to any this year. So, I took a different spin on this theme. As of late, as many of you have read my rants, Adam thinks his life is over and that nothing is FAIR. So, here's a picture of the face I receive when I tell him "no" or if I correct him. I call this his "Mommy is mean" face. Sorry Bubba, life isn't FAIR... and it never will be! Enjoy!

My First Day Alone

Well, my first day alone didn't go too terrible. We even made it out to Target (yay for spending every penny we have on diapers!!) and to swing by and visit Nana at her work. Nana was very proud to take Matthew around the office and show him to all of her co-workers. Matthew was quite the hit, I do believe. :)

Today is actually going worse than yesterday. haha. Usually Adam and I sit at the kitchen table; he eats and mommy writes her blog. It gives me time to sip some coffee, write the blog, and enjoy Adam. Welllll... today he's sitting here yelling about how he wants milk and not juice, that he doesn't like waffles (load of poop), and that he wants popcorn for breakfast. sigh. Oh, and he's insisting that we go "bye, bye, to see Daddy." Apparently, he thinks daddy can save him!

Matthew is sound asleep in his swing, thankfully.

I already have a splitting headache, and it's only 9:30. This mommy business is crazy stuff. haha.

Here's a photo from yesterday. Adam is a sock stealer, I have found. Matthew kept losing his socks, and I thought it was my fault. Hmmm... Then I caught Adam in the act! haha

Lonnnng night

Here's a picture of Adam and his friend, playing under Matthews's crib. Isn't the little guy just adorable ???

Last night was the first night I actually felt like I have a newborn. Matthew didn't want to sleep one lick. He was up about every 45 minutes. It was horrendous! Both boys, however, did sleep until 8:30; that way mommy could sleep a little bit, too.

We had quite the slew of visitors yesterday. It was a revolving door, in our home. But, it was fun to see old friends and friends we haven't seen in a little while.

Matthew also had his two week check-up yesterday! It's amazing how different he is from Adam. Adam has always been well above average in his height, weight and head circumference. Little Matthew is below in all three. He weighs 6 lbs 11 oz (20 %tile), he's 20 inches (25 %tile), and his head is only in the 10 %tile!! Adam's head has always been in the 90 %tile. Such polar opposites!

Today is my first day completely alone, with the kids. I'm doing well, thus far, but it's only 10 am. haha. Hopefully we will make it through the day! :)

Best Shot Monday: "See" Food

Ahh... Boys.... I guess I should get used to this kind of behavior, eh? ;) Cookies are always better when shared with the rest of us!

Oh, Sadie!

My poor puppy... She had to have her womanly goods ripped from her this week.... But thankfully, we won't have to go through another heat cycle ever again! So, we had to buy her this little cone, for her head, so that she doesn't lick the stitches. Poor Adam is SO concerned about her cone head... he walks around saying "ooooohhhh, Sadie," in a very sad, very concerned tone. It's so cute.

Here's a picture of her little cone:

Everyone here is doing well. We braved the grocery store, today! Andy's mom picked the boys, myself, and my sister (she stayed with us for two days) up and we hit the road. She kept Adam occupied, while Ash and I took Matthew around and shopped. He slept the whole time, and it went so smoothly! yay! :)

Here is a cute picture Aunt Ashley took of Matthew:

This weekend Matthew gets to meet his Great Petry Grandparents and my dad and step-mom are coming to visit, too. Busy, busy, busy! :)

DRIP

Thursday's Theme is DRIP. I imagined this theme with water... So, I let Adam play in the sink and took some shots. I am actually really pleased with these photos! :) Enjoy!!!

As always, visit more drippy photos at Tracey's! :)

We made it a week!

Matthew is one week and two days old today! We made it! woo hoo. Overall, I think we had a great week. Adam is getting better, as the days go on. Matthew actually SLEEPS at night (I pray this trend continues!). We have WONDERFUL friends taking care of our dinner needs, and I am so grateful for them. (Oh, and we just found out that our friends Katy and Brett are having another baby!!! Congrats to them! :)) I've also had Andy's mom here everyday, just to help me keep my sanity. I am VERY VERY blessed to have her assistance. Anyway- besides being a little tired and still a bit sore, I am alive and well! :)

Stay tuned for tomorrow's Thursday's theme.... I have a few great pics! :) (The theme is DRIP...hmmmm)

Here's Adam, with Bean, after the drama occurred. This was one of Adam's bad days... He wasn't very nice to Bean, this day, but I think she still loves him... look at her cute little grin! :)

Best Shot Monday

Here's my best shot from last week.....

This is what happens when mommy doesn't watch Adam, while she's taking care of Matthew. The leftover food on the plates, were even fed to the dog... sigh... This mess only took 5 minutes!! That's my little monkey!

Head on over to Tracey's to see more best shots.

Thank The Lord...

I AM ALONE! :)

So, for the first time in days, maybe weeks... I am alone. Andy took Adam to church, and Matthew is sleeping for the time being. It's amazing how much I missed this time... so, of course, what am I doing? I am blogging and cleaning out the maternity clothes from my closet. haha.

This week has been a huge challenge for our family. Here's why:

1) Adam thinks he's being replaced, thus is acting out in every way possible to get attention.
2) Adam is teething (2 year molars) and is VERY cranky because of that.
3) Daddy had a 24 hour bug... leaving mommy alone, well before she was ready to be left alone..leading into a major meltdown.
4) Mommy's emotions are already running wild, and she spends at least an hour a day crying... haha. I can laugh now, because I am not in a crying mood.
5) Matthew is trying to figure out this whole breast feeding ordeal and spends about one hour trying to latch on before actually getting his meal... leaving mommy a little stressed out by the time the whole feeding is over. This is getting better, though- it only took about 15 minutes this morning for him to figure it out. yay! :)
6) The animals are going crazy, because there is another "hooligan" (I am sure this is the word they are using in their little minds) in the house.
7) Daddy's car is being fixed this coming week, after hitting the deer, leaving mommy locked in the house with no car (ok, so I'm not supposed to drive for two weeks anyway...but does anyone REALLY listen to that rule?!)

It's only just begun.... sigh.

Overall, I can't complain. Life isn't really "bad" just different. Everyone is adjusting pretty well, it just seems really nuts right now. I'm sure we're all coping the way we are supposed to be. I hope.

The pictures above are both "bath" pictures. The one on the left is of Matthew's first sponge bath and the one on the right is Adam's bath after having chocolate pie.

Thursday's Theme: Heat

How could I resist showing off the newest love of my life??? :) I obviously didn't take this photo, and didn't even know it existed until I found it this morning. My husband is a funny man. But... this was a very hot and sticky situation. I woke up with a bucket of sweat between Matthew and I. Worth it? Very much so.

Go to Picture this to catch some more heat!

Meet Matthew

39 weeks... 39 weeks of being pregnant and awaiting Matthew. And in 6 short (but still very intense) laboring hours, he finally arrived! :)

I will post more details, later... but until then, here is a photo of our family:

Thanks for all of your thoughts and prayers- we really appreciate everyone's support!!

BSM: Yum-o!

Here's my best shot, from last week. Adam loves to think he's drinking soda, so we often give him our empty cans. I just love his eyes, in this picture! And of course, this is before I chopped his hair off, so he has his wings still. :)

Today is the DAY! We are going in just a couple of hours for my induction. Hopefully Matthew will be born today! :) Wish us luck! I will post pictures as soon as possible.

As always, go over to Tracey's to see more spectacular photos! :)

Bed Rest, Hitting Bambi, and Big Brothers

Sadie smiling at the parade :)

So, I've only been on bed rest for a day... and I'm done. As hard as my wonderful husband is working, I fear he is overwhelmed by Adam and trying to do everything around here. AND to make matters worse, he hit a deer last night :(. Thank the Lord, he is fine and the car really isn't THAT bad (to me, anyway). To Andy, his car is his little baby and he's freaking out. sigh.

As for Adam, he's starting to realize something is up. Mommy is in bed (which he never sees), Daddy is doing everything mommy always does, and he's spending a lot of time with his grandparents. I am pretty sure he knows something is up. I am having serious guilt feelings. The poor kid has no idea that his world is about to be completely different. I hope he understands.

Anyway- I am going to sit here and watch the food network and pet my belly... lol Have a great weekend, everyone!! :)

Being Induced!!!!

I am being induced on Monday at 2 pm!!!!!!!! :) WOO HOO!!!!!!

Looks like I have too low of blood pressure, and it's throwing off my whole body. So, we are going to get Matthew out to hopefully make the situation better.

I am on bed rest for the weekend and am feeling pretty crummy.

There will be pics up of Matthew sometime next week- I can't wait to meet him! :)

Thursday's Theme: Spectacle

A spectacle is something to be seen: like an event or "big to do." Well, my photo for today's theme is the calm before the storm (a good storm, however), if you will. Adam got to see his very first parade, yesterday, that his Grandpa Bop and Grandma Jacqui just happened to be IN! To Adam, this was a HUGE spectacle. Not only where there "fire cucks" and music, but two of his favorite people were marching on by. Oh, and who could forget the candy? He loved the fact that he could run into the road, grab a piece of candy, and mommy and daddy didn't say "no" to the eating of the candy (and we were actually letting him run into the road! I hope that one doesn't backfire on us- haha). What are holidays for, if the kiddo can't have a little fun? :)

Enjoy the photo :)

Also, on a side note. I did cut his hair again. The crazy fro, he had growing, was getting nappy and I couldn't brush it...EVER... so I decided it needed done. I cut it shorter, this time, too. Hopefully no one is angry with me, for cutting off the curls. Don't worry, they'll be back I am sure.

Be sure to check out more spectacles over at Picture This!

Baby, OH Baby!

So I had my appointment today, and it was ALL GOOD NEWS!!! I am almost 2 cm... higher blood pressure, proteins good.... baby should be here soon, she says! I've been having a lot of contractions and it's been coming- I could feel it.... So, looks like I might have Matthew before the weekend (which would be WONDERFUL!).

Hope everyone has a happy and safe 4th!

Here is how we listen to the Ipod- minus the actual Ipod.... hahah. :)

BSM: mmm Melon

Adam's best photos seem to involve food. haha. I love this picture, though! It reminds me of summer and just how hard toddlers have to concentrate on everything they do. If you have a summer fun photo, go on over to Tracey's to see (share) more best shot Mondays!!

Birthdays, Reunions, and Rest

Daddy took this picture of Adam and Mommy,
with his fancy, dancy, new phone, from work.

This weekend was full of excitement and fun. We went to Bean's birthday party, Andy's family reunion, and we spent today relaxing!

Bean's party was a lot of fun! We went a little early, since we had to go to the family reunion, and that way the kids could see each other and play a little. Bean seemed to really like her bubble mower, we bought her, and Adam had a great time playing in a different backyard other than his own! Mommy almost broke the camera, by dropping it on the ground. BOO! Luckily only the display is broken, but the pictures are coming out fine. Thank goodness! I really didn't want to have to buy a new camera.

Then, we went to the family reunion. The hour drive was really crappy, and it made mommy a little cranky, at first. I was sore and I had to go to the bathroom for half of the trip. But, once we got there and ate some food, we all had a great time. Adam jumped on the trampoline and found innocent family members to take him anywhere and everywhere. haha. There were also a ton of family pictures taken (I will post them once I get copies of some). Sadly, I didn't take ONE picture, because I didn't think they would turn out. ugh.

Today, we went to church and then decided we would just relax. So, that's what we did. Went and saw Nonnie and Pa, ate some lunch and went to the park. It was fun. :)

Hope everyone had a great weekend! :)
